This Mini is a cracking little find, it's
in really good condition for a 1991 Mini. It's just in need of a touch of bling. It came
with a new MOT and the 1000cc engine runs perfectly. It has had
new doors skins and A-panels. The Mini is unspoilt and
solid, making it an absolute bargain for the purchase price.
The electrics
were the first port of call as the headlights were only
intermittently working. This was traced to a corroded connection
on the fuse box. The horn was suffering from a bad connection
also. A new flasher unit was required to get the indicators to
work, but the indicator stalk needs replacing as this isn't
working correctly.
There was some surface rust on the rear wheel arch that needed
treating before it got serious.
After
rubbing it down, treating it with rust remover and re-spraying
the arch it looks much better.
.The
boot floor was also in need of a lot of cleaning followed by a
touch of paint.
The result
looking much more in keeping with the rest of this Mini.
The floor pans are solid with only minor
welding having been carried out in the past. There is a little
bit of water getting which needs to be sorted out. The first
step was to remove the worn out carpet. Then with the aid of a
willing volunteer and a can of gunk clean up the floor pans.
The black number plate
housing was changed for a shinny chrome one.
New
sill strips were sprayed as the front two were missing and one
of the back ones was slightly rusty.
The steering wheel was
removed to enable the indicator stalk to be replaced with a new
one.
The
front windscreen was removed to enable the fitment of a new
rubber and chrome filler strip.
The standard black plastic
mirrors were replaced with chrome Tex mirrors.
The black plastic interior
door furniture was changed for alloy furniture.
The black plastic wheel
arches were enhanced with superb chrome arches.
Chrome sill strips were also added.
A set of genuine Rover Mini speakers were
used to
fit within the designed holes in the rear parcel shelf.
Removing the rear
windscreen aided fitting the spearers.
A parcel shelf was fitted to smarten up the
rear,
complete with a union jack winged badge.
The black gutter trim was
replaced with chrome gutter trim
The black exterior handles
were replaced with chrome ones & door scoops.
A new badge was added to the boot also
The
doors were resealed with polythene to prevent water penetrating
through to the inside of the Mini.
Silver bonnet stripes, pin
stripes and splat graphics were added.
Also chrome wipers and a funky blue aerial.
Halogen headlights were
fitted to make things a little easier in the dark.
Grille buttons were also fitted to ease the removal of the
grille.
